Well how much lag is it causing? I will probably get on later to test the bandwidth use of EVE as I login to Jita and compare it with some past bookmarks to see if it a large enough change to generate lag.
i also think there may be a difference between server lag (latency) and client lag (graphical)
but i know not of these things

Originally by: Emperor Salazar Its not causing any server lag. If you read the dev blog you would know how it functions:
Quote: This means that the client isn't loading graphic assets and running rendering code for characters in the background while you are flying in space, it will just fetch the character portraits via the internet as if you were browsing a web page. This also means that the client doesn't have to ask the server for characters appearances in order to render them, so we are freeing up server resources too. We also offload all the bandwidth to our Content Delivery Network (CDN) so that we aren't using up the link to Tranquility with requests for images - and as all requests for images go to our CDN it should be extremely fast wherever you are in the world.
wow look at you you've come a long way my friend
adding useful content to a thread, im a little choked up here i need a minute to recover
ok now that it has passed that pretty much rules out latency but poor me and my sorry computer still seem to be having issues when jumping into system(compared to before the pics would load)
so maybe this is accounted for by processing/gpu issues i am having on the client side? with loading all the pictures at once? im not a very techy person so i think we are in the perfect place to hash it out sanz trolling, oh, oops too late!
now we have come full circle. wouldnt it be great to choose not to load them at all? is that even a viable option? who knows but maybe we will find out!
hey look at that we are in the features and ideas section and someone suggested that in this here post.
i guess im not a completely worthless human being after all.
